The purpose of the Junior Dragster Team Finals is to promote Drag Racing at on a local level and reward attendance with national recognition and competition. This event will be run 1/8 mile.
DRIVER ELIGIBILITY - Each participating track will keep a “points” system to determine the drivers who will represent their track. Each racer must be entered in the points program. No buy-in entries from racers not running at local track.
TRACK REGISTRATION – All tracks must register with IHRA before July1, 2009. All rosters must be received by IHRA before August 1, 2009.
TEAM COMPOSITION - Each team will consist of a total of 10 members. Each track may send up to three teams. There is no entry limit for any class. Each team captain must notify race director of car substitution.
TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP - The Team Championship will be determined by a points system with one (1) point being awarded to the winner of each round. All run-off points count toward team totals. In the case of a tie, the team that had the competitor that went farthest in competition will be awarded the higher position. If there is still a tie, the best ‘package’ (from the last driver from the tied teams) will determine the winner. The winning track will receive an Ironman at the conclusion of the event.
CREDENTIALS, MEMBERSHIP & LICENSING - Each participant must be a current licensed member of IHRA. Memberships will be available at the event and forms will be provided to Track Operators.
TRACK CODE & PERMANENT NUMBERS - Each participant must have a track code properly displayed on the tower side of their vehicle next to their competition number. IHRA will supply track code decals at the event. IHRA will assign track code and car number.
TECH INSPECTION – Tech inspection will be performed by hosting track officials in staging lanes. Competitors will be issued a tech card at the front gate.
WRIST BANDS – An IHRA official will install a colored band on the wrist of each person admitted through the track gate. Team members, team captains, track employees and crewmembers must wear the wristband at all times throughout the weekend.
TEAM CAPTAIN - Each track will appoint a track owner/operator/manager or parent to serve as Team Captain for their team at the Junior Dragster Team Finals.
RACERS - No racer may represent more than one (1) track at the Team Finals. A racer may enter only one vehicle and one class at the event. Once a racer declares the team he/she wishes to represent, he/she may not change teams. Two drivers are not allowed to drive the same vehicle.
TIME TRIALS - Time trials will be run in sessions by class. Do not come to the staging lanes until your class is called.
ATV's & PIT BIKES – A racecar permanent number must be displayed on all such vehicles. No Joy Riding Permitted. All riders must have a valid state drivers license. A Security person will be appointed to apprehend violators. Violators will lose one (or more) team point(s) for each violation, depending on severity of violation. No Skateboards, Go-Carts, Etc. allowed. Team Captains will share responsibility of enforcing this rule.
FOUR ELIMINATORS - Will be run at the Sunday Bracket Finals:
8-9 YEAR OLD
10-11 YEAR OLD
12 -14 YEAR OLD
15-17 YEAR OLD

AUTOSTART – AutoStart will be used to start races. Reaction times will be displayed .000. See the IHRA Rulebook for AutoStart setting parameters.
LANE CHOICE – Cars will be lined up by pairs in one lane. If you want the left lane stay in the left side on the lane. If you want the right lane stay in the right side of the lane. Do not switch lanes or move out of the line. If we run out of side by side cars, we will run them front to back with the front car getting lane choice.
BYE RUNS - Bye runs will be determined by card pull in front of staging lanes. A new bye run will be selected every round. Once the bye run is pulled the cars will then be paired side by side. The Bye run will receive lane choice.
TEAM MEMBER vs. TEAM MEMBER - The Junior Dragster Team Finals is an event designed to promote team competition. Therefore, racers from the same team will not run each other, even in a run-off situation, unless they are the only ones left in competition. Circumstances such as the number of entries, track layout, pit parking or traffic conditions can make this difficult to accomplish. It is the tracks responsibility to help assure that racers from the same team do not run each other. Each team of ten will be considered a team. Track officials will not be responsible to separate track teams. If racers from the same team running each other should become the only alternative, the cars will run each other and the runs will stand. Note: the only exception to this is in a bye run situation.
TEAM PIT PARKING SELECTION - Team parking will be based on order of track registering teams of competitors the first year and by order of finish from the year before thereafter. The number 1 finisher has first pick, number 2 has second pick, etc for the top five tracks. IHRA will assign spots for remaining tracks.
BONUS RACE - Bonus Races will be run as long as weather and time permits. These will be run on Saturday.
RACE PROCEDURE AND SAFETY RULES - All IHRA Race Procedure and Safety Rules will be in effect unless stated otherwise in this agreement. Contestants should become familiar with the IHRA Rulebook, Revisions and this Agreement before entering the event. No cars are permitted to burnout across the starting line. Offenders will get 1 warning. Jr. Dragster only allowed one pullback after burnout process, prior to reaching starting line.
DEEP STAGING - Please be aware that Deep Staging is allowed but not guaranteed. It is up to the racer to get in deep as soon as possible. It is not the responsibility of the starter.
COURTESY STAGE –Is in effect for all age groups.
EXCESSIVE BRAKING – If an official sees excessive braking at finish line, the car is out for that particular race.
SPECIAL AWARDS – Will be judged by all officials.
